I found a new publication yesterday entitled, Martial Arts Journal. While its focus is martial arts generally, it does have content specific to boxing, too. I've embedded it in this blog post. Have a look; I think you'll like it!

Nerdcore Boxing Returns!
After more than a year away from blogging, he's back! Woohoo! Welcome back, big guy! It's great to see you blogging again. I'm as eager as ever to read your site. I'm glad to learn things are going well and you're back to training.
To the rest of my readers, I encourage you to read his blog. As you can see from his past blog entries, he publishes a lot of useful content and logs his experiences, which seem fairly similar to my own adventures in the sweet science.
Hat tip to Marc at My Boxing Blog, who keeps punching as the Australian winter sets in.

Visiting Some Boxing Blogs in the 'Hood
There are lots of blogs online; who can keep up with them all? Even with my best efforts and (what I think is) my skillful use of my RSS reader/aggregator, I know I can't read everything I want. Nevertheless, here are a few posts by my fellow boxer-bloggers that I've enjoyed, and I hope you will like them, too.
First, the tenacious Marc reports that he is back in training "again...again." Way to go, Marc! Keep up the fine work.
Next, the author of Toe to Toe (sorry, I don't know his name and couldn't find it on the blog) has a bout coming up on March 20, 2009. Please join me in wishing him much success.
Last, Jonathan Moreland continues his process of Earning a Nickname and recounts the highlights of his recent bout. Congratulations, Jonathan, and good show of sportsmanship in the match.
I'll have an update about my own training soon, maybe even later today.

Hey You...Wanna Follow this Blog?
Now you can. I've set up the "Followers" gadget so you, too, can follow this site through Blogger. It's easy to do.
In the right-hand column of this blog, scroll down the page until you come to the area preceded by the "Followers" heading. It's between the section marked "Subscribe to Lawyer-boxer's Blog" and the picture of the boxer yakking on his cell phone and his annoyed-looking opponent.
Click on the text that says "Follow this blog" and follow the instructions.
You'll need a Blogger account to follow my blog; if you don't already have one, the instructions will tell you how to set one up.
That's it: so easy, even yours truly can do it. Thanks in advance.

The Lawyer-boxer-blogger is Now Blogging at LawyerCasting
I'm happy to announce that I am now a guest blogger at the LawyerCasting blog. Published by eLawMarketing (and edited by attorney/Internet marketer Joshua Fruchter), LawyerCasting covers "'best practices' in online marketing for lawyers and law firms, including websites, blogs, podcasts, webcasts, email marketing and much more!"
It's a real pleasure to be working with Josh Fruchter at LawyerCasting. You may remember that I also blog at JD Bliss Blog, as I mentioned here.
My first entry at LawyerCasting is about "16 Ways Lawyers Can Use Twitter."
Blogging at JD Bliss has taught me a lot and allowed me to connect with some great people and do a lot of networking online. I am looking forward to the same kinds of opportunities in my work with LawyerCasting. Blawg on!

Boxing As a Form of Self-defense
At TBO-TECH, Self Defense Blogger shares his thoughts about boxing as a self-defense style. It's an interesting, albeit brief, blog entry that necessarily boils down a lot of boxing technique into three major areas related to self-defense: punches, footwork, and strike points.
I agree with a lot of what he says, plus I now have another blog to read. :-)

New Addition to My Blogroll: SportsAgentBlog
Earlier today, a new reader of this blog and fellow lawyer, Gary Wimsett, Jr., told me about an interesting blog: SportsAgentBlog. I have added a link to it in the "Sports Blogs" section of the blogroll.
I haven't yet had a chance to spend a lot of time there, but I already like what I see. SportsAgentBlog provides some great content and a lot of coverage about the business and law of sports. While the blog covers most sports, it contains some entries about boxing, and here's an informative commentary about MMA's Randy Couture and Brock Lesnar.
I hope you'll enjoy SportsAgentBlog as much as I already am. Thanks, Gary, for the fine recommendation and welcome to Lawyer-boxer's Blog!

New Boxing Blog Online: jonos big fight
During my blog-surfing, I came across an interesting blog called jonos big fight. It's published by a Malaysian fellow, named Jono, who has just started training for a boxing event to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 28, 2008 (which just happens to be my birthday).
I've added Jono's blog to my blogroll (under the "Boxing Blogs" heading). I'll be following his training and hoping his bout goes well. Good luck, Jono, and feel free to visit us here sometime.

Two More Boxing Blogs
I recently spotted two more boxing blogs written by guys who seem kind of like me. Here they are.
Earning a Nickname
Toe to Toe
I've enjoyed reading them so far, so I'm hoping these guys will update their blogs fairly regularly so I can follow their training and adventures.
Hat tip to my friend, Marc, who publishes My Boxing Blog. I found these new blogs on Marc's site. Thanks, Marc!

Mike Tyson Training Video Courtesy of MarksTraining.com
Marks has a good blog post up with an embedded video of Mike Tyson training. Check out the video and Marks' commentary about it; it's worth seeing.
I might disagree with Marks about whether Tyson "was the greatest boxer to step into the ring." Then again, I might not. These are fun debates to have over a few beers with friends, but as far as answering who was or is "the greatest," I find the debate itself is a lot more important than whatever conclusion one reaches (which is bound to be different from the other guys talking about it).
It's helpful and inspiring to see a masterful presentation of some of the things my coaches have been trying to get me to do over the years.
Also, I hope you'll spend some time at the rest of Marks' blog. He has a fair amount of boxing content, along with the various other martial arts and MMA.

New Blog Sighting
This morning, I happened upon a relatively new blog that has some good content and insights into our sport. It's called The Current Boxing Scene, and it is published by a fellow who calls himself "the boxing fanatic." According to the archives, this blog has been online for about two and a half months and provides very good commentary about what is going on these days in boxing. It's a fine blog and I hope "the boxing fanatic" will be posting more frequently. I already like what I see!
Hat tip to Marc at My Boxing Blog for the link.
Update:
Usually, I don't second-guess myself, but shouldn't that read "glove tip" instead of "hat tip." Or, maybe, "glove tap"? Nah, the latter is too aggressive--Marc might think I'm challenging him or something!
